The picture above shows the complete system i.e. stepbolt and the Tower Attachment together.
The Screwstep™ System was developed initially for National Grid Electricity Transmission plc however it is now a sanctioned product and is used on frequently climbed pylons, beneath the anti-climb guard.
In addition to the frequently climbed sites, it is a National Grid Electricity Transmission requirement for use on sites (“vulnerable towers”) where there is a history of unauthorised access. Simply removing stepbolts was considered not enough, as unauthorised individuals have been known to insert any available object in the hole left by the absent stepbolt, in order to give them the aid required to climb.
The Screwstep™ Tower Attachment not only blocks off the hole, but also is so chamfered, as to not permit the necessary purchase required for an unauthorised person with no tools to climb.
The ScrewStep™ Stepbolt is also more easily fitted and removed from the ScrewStep™ Tower Attachment socket, than a standard stepbolt directly to the tower leg.
