Man killed at Swan Hunter shipyard

A worker has been killed in Tyne and Wear after he was thrown from a boom lift at the Swan Hunter shipyard.

 

The 55-year-old man was thrown from his platform when a structural beam came crashing down during the demolition of a building on site in Wallsend.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the incident.
