Radio Presenters Cleaning Challenge

Posted: Friday, 04 February, 2011

Total Access (UK)Ltd have challenged Signal 1 Radio breakfast show presenter Perry to participate in a high level clean at Stoke City F.C Britannia Stadium.

Earlier this week Perry from the Signal 1 breakfast show was complaining about his window cleaner and he also suggested that window cleaning was an easy job that anyone could do.

Whilst it is true that with the correct training many people could conduct this task, there are many technical aspects and risks which individuals face and must be aware of.

As with any element of working at height, the role requires training and continual assessments to ensure they are competent in performing the task safely.

Total Access (UK) Ltd have come up with the ultimate window cleaning challenge!

This morning Ashlea Morris our Sales and Marketing Executive went on air to challenge Perry to participate in a high-level clean with our IRATA trained Technical Services Team at Stoke City’s Britannia stadium on the Tuesday 8th of February.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness to working at height safety and give people an understanding of what rope access really involves to show that it is a real alternative to other working at height techniques.

The event will involve Perry cleaning the windows whilst abseiling down the front of Britannia stadium under the careful supervision of Paul Hardman, a Total Access (UK) Ltd Level 3 Technician and Stuart Alcock Technical Services Manager.

Our IRATA trained Technical Services Team regularly perform tasks whilst working at height via rope access. These include High Level Cleaning, Inspections, Painting etc.

Previous work has included high raise buildings such as office blocks, apartments, warehouses, football stadiums and iconic structures, like Big Ben and Spinnaker tower.

Prior to the event, Perry will receive full Rope Access training at the Eccleshall based Training Centre which will be led by our Training Manager, Mark Lee.

We hope this event will raise the profile of Rope Access Techniques and demonstrate the full training required to perform such tasks safely.
