Signal One’s Perry Completes High Level Challenge At Britannia Stadium
By Emily Allen
BREAKFAST show host, Perry Spiller, yesterday completed a window clean challenge at over 100ft at Stoke City’s football ground.
The Signal One presenter took part in the brave assignment set for him by Total Access LTD to demonstrate the safety involved in working at heights with rope access.
Spiller, who is one half of the Perry and Louise at Breakfast show, abseiled down the front of Britannia Stadium with Paul Hardman, the Total Access IRATA Technician, cleaning windows on his descent.
Before the drop, the 37-year-old Spiller revealed he was anxious about the event: “I am a bit nervous.”
“The training was really thorough, but this is outside,” he had trained the week before on a 10m wall in the comfort of the Total Access Training Centre.
The chilly, windy conditions only served to further nerve the presenter, but it was the job at hand that worried him the most.
“I’m more concerned about bodging up the window cleaning,” he joked. “You don’t want to leave streaks on Britannia Stadium!”
The Total Access team, who specialise in safety for working at heights and regularly complete high level cleaning and inspections, supervised as the radio host cautiously took his first step over the 110ft roof.
After completing his challenged window clean, Spiller grounded to a round of applause.

Hardman, who abseiled down with the presenter, seemed impressed at his efforts: “He’s definitely got potential.”
“There is so much training involved, and there was a lot for him to take on board, but he’s done well,” he added.
Spiller said: “It was scarier than I thought it would be. I didn’t think the A-Frames would support me, it was definitely scary.
“It got easier as I went down though, I really enjoyed it,” he finished.
